SP4 William A. Mansergh served as an aerial observer for LT James Flurry on a scout helicopter conducting a reconnaissance mission with C Troop 7/17 Air Cavalry in Binh Dinh Provence, Vietnam. Eyewitnesses reported that the OH-6 was at a hover when it started moving slowly backwards and crashed into the trees. When US forces found LT James Flurry’s body, he had been shot in the head. SP4 William A. Mansergh was in the front seat. He died in the crash.
